Considering mathematics is about ideas and not about immediate reality, early education in mathematics is something very special. Mathematical ideas are held together by logical argumentations. One of the most important goals of early education in mathematics therefore is enhancing the logical thinking of children. The systematic initiation of first arithmetical thought processes is a most convenient launching point. The Workshop discusses this issue by presenting mathematical game worlds which are developed by our Institute, e.g. the "Rechenwendeltreppe" (Calculation Spiral Stairs), the "Zahlenhochhaus" (Number High-Rise Building) or the "Stellenwertsystem-Burgttürme" (Place-Value System Castle Towers).
